A weekly class for everyone who speaks English, with a relaxing, re-energizing meditation, a buddhist teaching, a second guided meditation on the subject of the talk and time for questions and discussion.

These general programm classes are suitable for everybody, beginners and those with some experience in meditation. We sit on chairs or cushions. Classes can be attended either individually or as a series covering a specific topic.


When the turbulence of distracting thoughts subsides and our mind becomes peaceful we experience a deep sense of contentment and happiness arising from within. In these classes we discover how to develop and maintain inner peace throughout our daily life.

Habits of Happy people | 5-week Mindfulness series

Choose happiness by learning 4 powerful states of mind that naturally give rise to inner strength and quality of life.

Happiness is something that each one of us has the potential to experience, but often our habitual ways of thinking take us in the opposite direction. This engaging 4-week mindfulness series will teach critical lessons about some of the habits of happy people that will enrich your life's experience.

We will explore several meditations and ways of thinking that uplift the mind and how by carrying these with mindfulness into our day we can maintain a light, joyful attitude whatever life throws our way. Everyone is welcome to attend this series of classes. No previous experience necessary.

 

January 24 |  Contentment - Teachings for a happy life

"Without contentment, a rich man will think he is poor"- Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. By learning to be happy with what we have we can overcome our overwhelming dissatisfaction, simplify our life and be able to focus more easily on internal changes.

 

January 31 |  Acceptance - Teachings for a happy life

In this class, we will learn how to maintain a calm and joyful mind even in the most challenging circumstances through applying Buddha's teachings on patient acceptance.

 

February 7 |  Joy - Teachings for a happy life

It is very easy to allow our mind to focus in ways that are contradictory with our basic wish to be happy. This class will explore teachings and meditations that enable us to keep a positive mind and overcome negative thoughts such as jealousy, competitiveness and discouragement.

 

February 14 |  Gratitude - Teachings for a happy life

We can get so stuck focusing on the negative that we can forget to appreciate all the benefit we receive from others. By maintaining an awareness of the kindness of others in our life we can keep a positive, grateful mind that will make us more warm and well disposed towards others and protect us from unhappy thoughts.

 

 

Building Self-Confidence | 4 week series

Many people suffer from low self-esteem and lack of self-confidence, such non-productive ways of thinking can greatly hinder our quality of life, as well as prevent us from being able to move forward or realize our spiritual potential. During this course learn how to develop authentic self-confidence through training in meditation and adopting new ways of thinking.

The teachings given will be based on several verses from the ancient Buddhist poem, Guide to the Bodhisattva's way of life, by the Indian meditator, Shantideva, which reveals the extraordinary confidence of someone who has gained control over their own mind.

 

February 28 - Self-Confidence Vs Self-Importance

Discover the difference between these two minds and how to maintain powerful confidence while remaining a humble and respectful attitude towards others.

 

March 7 - Relating to our Potential

Buddha taught that within each of us lies the potential for limitless love, compassion and wisdom called our "Buddha nature" that exists even when our mind is at its most negative state.

 

March 14 - Taking Control

Normally our mind is pulled here and there by circumstances, good or bad conditions, criticism and blame. In this class, we will discover how to take control over our mind and develop an unshakeable inner strength that is not so easily perturbed.

 

March 21 - Facing our Demons

This class will be based on powerful verses from Shantideva that reveal how to wage war against the inner enemies of anger, attachment and ignorance so that we can be victorious over our negativity and reach lasting happiness.
